  I worked for Alta Max for about a week (the shortest amount of time that I've EVER held a job, since I started working at the age of 15). At first everyone was friendly, of course, but by the third day, I realized that the lady who i would work directly with was EXTREMELY condescending. I expressed my concerns to the owner, who's the total opposite from my manager at the time, and I was very disappointed by the response that I received. He agreed that she was condescending and unorganized, but he basically said that she knows the company in and out and she has a good relationship with the customers. At that point I knew that nothing was going to change. He basically was saying, "deal with it." Again, I was disappointed due to his response and lack of concern for my issues. I ended up quitting. Two days after I quit, they sent me a separation notice. However, when pay day rolled around, I didn't receive my check. Throughout the course of two weeks, I called the company's payroll and HR department questioning the whereabouts of my check. The response I received every single time was, "We forgot to cut your check" or "I'll mail it and you'll receive it tomorrow." It's been two weeks, going on three and I STILL haven't received my check. Fed up and flabbergasted, I decided to call the Labor Board. I received a response from the Labor Board saying my check should be there tomorrow. I'm still playing the waiting game. Although Mr. Lee, the owner, seems like a nice man, it is imperative that he understands that you can not accept this type of conduct from employees just because they may have been with the company for a long time. That's not an excuse for them to do as they want and run potential long-term employees away. I was really disappointed in this company.
